Hello everyone, today we have something a bit different. For today’s blog entry I will show you guys an interview I did with a fellow author named Carol Nemeth. Please check her out and glance through her books, you may find something you may want to read.
Also, don’t forget about my writing class and book signing this Saturday from 10-1 at Artful Things in Niceville.
With that said, let’s get started.
- How did you get involved with writing?
I’ve always loved reading since I was a young child. When I was about thirteen, my mother introduced me to Grace Livingston Hill’s books. I became enthralled with them. That summer she took me to the library about once a week, and I would come out with a stack of them in my arms. I would read one whole GLH novel a day. When that stack was finished, we would go back for more. I pretty much read everything the library had. It was then I decided if Grace could do it, so could I. Through the years, I wrote a lot of things but never finished them. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I completed and submitted a novel for publication.
2. What is a major influence in your writing?
I would have to say my love of travel and history are the biggest influences in my writing. However, I also travel for research for my writing so it goes both ways.
3. Describe the types of books you write.
I write Christian romantic suspense, both historical and contemporary. Right now, I’m writing the fifth and final novel in a series of books that are set in our National Parks (Faith in the Parks series.) They are contemporary, but I’ve blended a couple of historical novellas that are prequels into the series. In all, there will be five contemporary novels and two historical novellas when the series is complete.
4. Who is your main audience?
Some would think women should be, but I have had a lot of men who have read my Faith in the Park series. If you’re averaging out the numbers, though, I suppose it would be the women.
5. What do you want the audience to gain from reading your works?
I always have some spiritual message within the pages of my books. It’s not always the same, but I do try to always make it encouraging without being preachy. As a Christian I believe we’re called to share our faith. God has given me this ability to write. It’s all Him. The words. The story. The message. I couldn’t do any of it without Him. I want to share Him in it, but in a way that will draw others to Him. To God be the glory!
