How It Began

Here is the honest to goodness truth here folks, I may have written multiple books, but I have no idea how to write a blog. This is a new experience for me, so I’m sure that there will be a bit of a learning curve, please be patient.

Since this is one of my first blog posts, I guess I should start from the very beginning when it comes to writing for me. I mean this is my blog for my author website, it just makes sense.

I have always been a storyteller, even as a little kid. As far back as I can remember, I was making up stories in my head whenever I was bored or trying to cheer myself up after a bad day. I didn’t truly start writing though until I was in middle school. My first attempt at a book was about a bunch of kids who survived a plane crash and were trying to survive in the Canadian wilderness. I got around 40- 50 pages into it and stopped. I plan on picking it up again some day soon.

I took a bit of a break from writing not too long after that and didn’t start again until my sophomore year of high school when I took up poetry. Some of those poems were used later in the Death’s Assistant series. That’s also the time I really started to work on writing books again.

I finished my first book, Death’s Assistant, my senior year of high school but I didn’t self publish it until around two years later. That is because it takes a little while to edit your first book, and I was also trying to find a publisher. Nobody really took me seriously since I was so young and inexperienced. When I realized that, I self published so that I could gain that experience. I continued writing as a hobby after that and it wasn’t until 2019 that I finally got my chance.

At the Blue Lake Writer’s Retreat, I pitched my idea for a children’s chapter book series to the owner of Winged Publications. She enjoyed the concept of my stories and decided to take a chance on me. That is how the Adventures of Silver Dove series came to be. I have finished the Death’s Assistant series and I am still working on the Adventures of Silver Dove series, but I have so many more stories to come, don’t you worry about that. đŸ˜‰
