The Creation of Silver Dove

Ever since I first released the Adventures of Silver Dove series, people have been asking me how I came up with the idea, so here is the honest truth. For practically my entire childhood, I was picked on mercilessly. A good portion of the time I didn’t want to go to school because I didn’t want to be around the other kids. I would put on a happy face though and would just make it through the day. In many stories that I have come up with over the years, bullying is involved by a certain degree. A writer should talk about the things they know.

What inspired Silver Dove though came a bit unexpectedly for me. I had been babysitting and we watched a French children’s show by the name of Miraculous Ladybug by Thomas Astruc. That show has a villain who has the ability to give other people super powers. As I watched this I remembered how I would get picked on and that I wished that I had some kind of super power so that I could get my revenge. With that thought the Crow was born. As I thought of him, it became obvious that a hero would be needed to stop him, so the idea of Silver Dove came easily afterward. It didn’t take long for the ideas about the drama and relationships with the characters to form.

It took a while to create everything, but I believe that it was worth it in the end. I have high hopes for this series, I can only hope that I can reach some of the things I am hoping for.
