- When and how did you get interested in art?
“I was interested in art when I was in Kindergarten because we would do all of these arts and crafts and my mom and dad would put them on the wall and fridge and then the teachers would put the stuff they kept in these little books.”
2. How did you get involved with working with Miss Scalia?
“I got into it through my mom, but I forgot how.”
Well no worries Cheyanne, because I remember. My previous cover artist could no longer work on these projects with me, so I asked around on Facebook to see if anybody could help me. I was desperate and your mother, Jean Buffkin, a long time reader of mine with the Death’s Assistant series, said that you were a great artist. She showed me some pictures of some of your work and I knew instantly that I had found who I needed.
3. What is something that you like about this series that you are working on with Miss Scalia?
“What I like about the series is that the books are about bullying because when I was in public school, I was bullied and teased about how tall I was, so I like how the story is written.
4. Where do you hope to go with your art?
“Where I hope to go with my art is something I haven’t thought of yet, but I do hope I go somewhere far with it. I really wanna be like a professional artist or something like that.”
5. How do you usually get your ideas for the cover art?
“I would think about some poses in my head, but my mom does most of the ideas because most of the time my head is full of 5 million different things. I have tourette’s syndrome and when all of these thoughts come into my head I feel a little overwhelmed and I start ticing but when I get into the groove and calm down, I start concentrating and I don’t tic as bad anymore.”
