Bullying and Mental Disabilities

In full honesty, this is the form of bullying that truly makes me sick to my stomach. When you see someone picking on a person with a mental disability, you can see a great deal about them. Not only does it show a significant level of insensitivity and ignorance, but also shows an issue with them, possibly self esteem wise, at least if you look at it from the theory I have been presenting the past few weeks.

Why are people with mental disabilities targeted? Simple, they are perhaps the easiest targets of all. If the person doesn’t quite understand what is going on, then the person picking on them can’t be turned in for what they have done. What this can reflect about the person picking on them is that maybe a mentally disabled person is the only one they feel they can hurt, maybe they feel that they are so weak that they have to harm someone with a mental disability to rise above them. What a pathetic state of life that person must be in.

This is no excuse though. A person can build themselves up without harming another person. To harm someone who doesn’t quite understand though, that can never be excused, and very difficult to forgive.
