Hello everyone. Yesterday started what is called in the United States, Pride Month. This is where we celebrate the LGBT+ community. In a radio interview last year, I came out publicly as asexual, and I am very happy that this month has arrived.
The history of my community has been riddled with pain and misery through persecution. That still continues to this day. Many people have stopped being my friend after this was revealed, or they refuse to talk about it. It hurts my heart to know that these people have turned their backs on me for such a ridiculous reason, but I will not beg for them to return to my life. If they can’t accept all of me, then I do not need them in my life.
There will be many more struggles to face before true acceptance can be obtained, but I have hope that it will happen. I know that I may not be alive to see it, but I will keep fighting for that day.
